Michael Cormican MSPT Michael is co-founder of Metro Sports Physical Therapy. He specializes in orthopedics and sports physical therapy. Michael received his B.S. degree from Fairfield University in 1989 and continued his studies at Columbia University where he earned his Masters in Physical Therapy in 1991. Michael is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association. After graduation, he held two positions, one with New York City Board of Education's School for the Deaf and another with The Center for Sports Medicine. While with the Board of Education, he coached a team of athletes at New York State's Games for the Physically Challenged. After two years, Michael decided to concentrate his efforts on New York city's athletes - professional and novice alike. In 1997, Michael was recruited by New York University to design, implement and direct a state of the art Physical/Occupational Therapy service within it's Health Center. This included equipment/space design, staff development, treatment protocols and clinical education. Michael is an adjunct faculty member of NYU's Physical Therapy Program. He guest lectures on sports and orthopedic physical therapy topics. He has also taught a business management course for the transitional doctorate program. Michael is also recognized by NYU as a Master Clinician - providing professional mentorship to PT students. Michael is also pursuing advanced Masters and Doctorate degrees. Michael has over 15 years clinical experience meeting the demands of New York city's patient population. He has extensive knowledge of exercise program design to meet the carrying needs of his patients. He completed the NYC Marathon in 1995 and continues to run regularly. He enjoys spending the rest of his time with his wife and daughter. |
